How long have you been on DeviantArt?
Wow, this says I've been a Deviant since January 2007, but I was stalking this site before then. It just took a while to work up the courage to post anything. Sure glad I finally did.
What does your username mean?
When I was very young, I lived in a tiny town where people literally could go months without going outside. I had white-blonde hair, pale skin, and pronounced eye-teeth. In an attempt to tease me, other kids would call me 'vampire.' I took the title and combined it with my interest in German culture to come up with Blutesauger, which literally translates to 'blood sucker.' Well, I think I might have slipped the 'e' in there extra, but it was close enough.
Describe yourself in three words.
Uh... not sure about 3 words, but I've said in the past that I'm the most extroverted introvert most people will ever meet.
Are you left or right handed?
Primarily right handed, but can switch adequately.
What was your first deviation?
I think I've deleted it a long time ago, but I want to say that it was a very low quality image from my first digital camera, not sure what of though.
What is your favourite type of art to create?
I guess I've leaned more towards photography since joining DA, but I also enjoy crocheting, though that is less art and more functionality.
If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?
How about drawing? Or photoshop? There's several images I want to create, photography is just limited to what already exists.
What was your first favourite?
Again, deleted a lot of old stuff as I've developed as a person and a photographer. I remember being very interested in HDR photography because it shows things that normally wouldn't be seen otherwise.
What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?
Most of my favorites are of photographs that inspire me. Different styles that I've yet to master, or something that evokes emotion through just an image.
Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?
Now that is hard to answer. I follow different artists for different reasons. Daskibum has taught me just about everything I know about photography and I am constantly surprised by his work. Mfrahcs is an inspiring writer that has influenced me long before they entered the world of DA. ThisWomanWanders has the most beautiful spirit I've seen yet and I wish I had the freedom to travel as she does. And there are so many others, how can I choose?
If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?
I've met several artists from DA in person and I have to say that it has been a mostly positive experience. Being mostly introverted, I'm not sure I really need to meet any more people right now.
How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?
All of the people I listed above have influenced my life for several years, and I continue to strive to their level of art. There's just too much they've inspired me and pushed me to get into here.
What are your preferred tools to create art?
I don't want to start any fights, but most of my work has been done with Nikon gear, though I would love to expand my classic Minolta gear and experience more of film photography.
What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?
The wilds have always been my favorite place to be and when I started doing photography, I wanted to bring some of that naturalness to others. There are other places, but those usually include other people which tends to reduce my creativity.
What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?
The funniest thing I've had happen on DA, which is still a good memory because it lead me to where I am today, was chatting back and forth on a photographer's photo of a city. A couple years later, I found myself moving just outside of that city and I had made some new DA friends, one of which I decided to meet in person. He introduced me to another photographer and we became good friends and did a lot of photography together. At some point we were looking through his portfolio and I recognized the photo of the city I had commented on years before. Always nice to find a coincidence like that.
